In a significant development for Potentia Renewables Inc. (Potentia), the Skyview 2 Battery Energy Storage Project was selected by Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) to provide 390 megawatts (MW) of battery energy storage capacity to the Ontario grid. This project is the largest battery energy storage project contracted to date in Canada.

The project, owned by a subsidiary of Potentia and the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation, is poised to play a critical role in balancing energy supply with demand and enhancing grid reliability. By utilizing advanced energy storage technologies, Skyview 2 will provide critical energy capacity to the Ontario power grid.

“Our partnership on the Skyview 2 Energy Storage Project represents a powerful step towards integrating sustainable practices that honor our ancestral lands while embracing modern energy solutions. We are proud to contribute to a project that respects our values and promotes environmental stewardship.”
